Upward Over the Mountain
I've got a coat and some friends on the corner.
Mother, don't worry.
He'll have a garden we'll plant it together
Mother, remember the night the dog had her pups in the pantry?
Blood on the floor and the fleas on their paws
And you cried 'til the morning?
So may the sunrise bring hope
Where it once was forgotten
We are like birds
Flying upward over the mountain

My middle granddaughter would love to be spending the day with you. She's crazy about horses! Enjoy!
Way back when, I heard Sam's first record and I pictured him writing late at night while the kids were asleep upstairs, not wanting to wake them. Sometimes I get what he's writing about, sometimes it takes longer. But it's always great.
I always listen to the music you reference, because man, you've got good taste. My husband says I'm a little late to the Iron and Wine bandwagon, but this song pricked me right in the heart. Thank you for showing it to me.
Lovely image!
