Merlin's Bow
Pulled a tuff of Merlin's mane out of his curry comb. It was long and when I pulled on it, felt strong. So I tied it up to an antler and slid a cake of rosin up and down the black strands. I played it on my fiddle and it rang out with that sweet music, clear and strong. It sounded better than any bow I ever bought. I am going to make a proper bow out of some green wood and some more of Merlin's hair. I don't know of many black-haired bows but I am excited to create one.

Jenna, you are so clever, ever thinking of different ways to reuse. Merlin's hair on an anlter bow is so symbolic of CAF. I bet it does make sweet music!
You should use that as your logo--it is a great image!
now that is clever. me thinks the Scots of Olde would be very proud of this, no sense trying to find the instrument artisan to build a better bow when the makings are right there in front of you (and money is better spent on "sensible" things like wood and hay.
Between my auspicious dream and this undeniable piece of Cold Antler magic, 2013 is off to an enchanted start. This photo made my day.
I'd buy one of those bows! Just saying....
Can you post some audio of yourself playing with that bow? I'd love to hear what it sounds like!
awesome!maybe you can find a local luthier and you could market Merlin's bows. I'd prob buy one :)
I love this so much. I'd probably buy one, too!
wow ... that's so clever and amazing ... what a wonderful start into 2013 ... i'd love to hear that sound!
How Cool! I remember at Fiddle Camp when you said you wanted to make a bow out of Merlin's tail -- Good On You! WooHoo. And, yes, I would buy one too!
That is the most awesome thing ever!! I love it!
My friend's father plays the violin and only plays with bows that he has made out of black horse hair. There was a reason why, but I can't remember what that was. I want to say it was supposed to bring good luck. If I remember, I will ask! Love your Cold Antler bow!
How cool! I didn't know this sort of thing was possible!
