poems, tea, and dogs tonight
Pictures pass me in long review
Marching columns of dead events.
I was tender and, often, true;
Ever a prey to coincidence.
Always knew the consequence;
Always saw what the end would be.
We're as Nature has made us - hence
I loved them until they loved me.
-Dorothy Parker

Interesting- 'I loved them until they loved me'....she was not a happy person, but she was pretty darn witty when she wanted to be.
My favorite quote from Dorothy Parker is "men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses."
She was so intelligent, it's too bad that she let vanity creep in.
I picked up your book, Made from Scratch, at the library yesterday, thanks for the inspiration!
Dear acerbic Dorothy. Her "age before beauty/pearls before swine" put down is my personal fave.
